Important Information and Link for all U13 Players
Attention all 2012 & 2013 Parents...

As you may, or may not know, we have been faced with a very difficult decision that affects our U13 division. We had a GREAT turnout for Jr Greyhound Girls tryouts in this division. After the Tier 1 team was selected, many parents asked for a second, tier 2 Jr Greyhound Girls team to be created and a second round of tryouts to be held. This was met with an outcry from our house league families, as fielding a second team, and removing that group of players from house league play can negatively impact the program.

There is a lot to consider on both sides. We received very valid points, thoughts and concerns from all angles. Your board has gone back and forth and debated this issue at great length. We have reached a point where we have decided the absolute best way to handle this - to ensure a completely fair and transparent outcome - is to look to experts from outside of the SFHA organization.

We will be convening a panel - "The Development Committee" - composed of 3 individuals who do not have any ties to SFHA. Along with being free of any conflicts of interest, they have extensive hockey and player development knowledge and we feel very confident in their ability to assess all U13 players and advise us if the caliber is indeed so vast, a second team is warranted.

If the committee recommends a second Jr Greyhound Girls Team - tryouts will be held May 25th & 26th. Registration for these tryouts will be open to ALL interested U13 players (so if you did not register for tier 1 - an exception will be made).

If the committee does not feel a full second team is there, we will not be moving ahead.

It is important that we have as many U13 players as possible attending these 2 assessment skates. Regardless of whether your player is hoping to play house league, wildcats or rep hockey, we are looking for a complete picture of the overall talent pool in this division.

The dates for these 2 skates are Friday May 10th @ 6-7pm JR1 and Saturday May 11th @ 10-11am JR1. You may register for one, or the other, but both would be preferred.

There is NO FEE for these two skates.

The link to register is:  Skate Assessment Registration

PLEASE NOTE: Players who have tried out and made the final roster for the U13 Tier 1 Soo Jr greyhound Girls will NOT be included in this assessment.
