All House League players (U11, U13, U15, U18) will also have the opportunity to play together on our Wildcats Selects teams, which will have additional practice times and competitive play away from home (exhibition games and/or tournaments). All players wishing to play Wildcats Selects must register for tryouts.
NOTE: There are 2 mandatory requirements for the Wildcats Selects Program: 1 - SFHA House League has 2 teams of a minimum of 12 players on each team, and 2- there is a Wildcat Selects coach who is not a SFHA House League coach applying to lead the team.
The Sault Female Hockey Association (SFHA) Wildcats Selects Program for the 2025-26 hockey season is an improved initiative aimed at providing further development and competition opportunities for U11, U13 and U15 divisions with 2 or more House League teams with rosters of 12 players on each team in the SFHA House League.

What is the 205-26 Wildcats Selects Program?
The Wildcats Selects Program is a New and Improved initiative offered by Sault Female Hockey Association in the 2025-26 Hockey Season. The Wildcats Selects team will be comprised of SHFA House League players seeking extra ice time, aiming to advance their skills, and engaging in a higher level of competition. This team will be allotted 4 hours of SFHA ice per month over and above the 6hrs per month for the House League team - starting after the house league teams have completed their drafts and started their season.
The Wildcat Selects teams for this season will be named the Sault Female Hockey Association Wildcats and will be part of the OWHA DS program. These teams will be able to attend 3 tournaments, participate in dryland sessions with their respective House League teams AND attend House League tournaments with their team. Goalies will receive 1/1 training as part of their House League team.
The maximum team fee is $600 and the fee to register to this team after being selected is $275.
All players who commit to the Wildcats Selects team must participate in all practices, games and team events with their House League team in order to participate with the Wildcats Selects team for the season.
Who can play?
U11, U13, U15, U18 players interested in joining the Wildcats Selects team must also be registered in the SFHA House League program.
How can players try out?
ALL House League players are eligible to try out for the Wildcat Team from U11 to U18, if there are a minimum of 2 house league teams with rosters of 12 players on each team. Tryout ice times will be posted on the SFHA Website Calendar in advance of the scheduled times.
How will teams be selected?
A Wildcats Selects team will have a maximum of 15 skaters and 2 goalies.
To play on the Wildcats team, a player must attend all tryouts for her age group or receive an exemption in advance from the Wildcats coach of that division, which must be approved by the SFHA President and VP House League. ALL Wildcats teams are designed as a higher-level development program for House League players, and team selection may reflect this intention at the discretion of the Wildcats Team coach and tryout evaluators for that division.
Any players in the house league can be added to a call up list. These players will be on the official OWHA roster, but will not pay the Wildcats Selects registration fee, as they will participate on the team on an "at need" basis only.
How many games and practices will there be?
Wildcats Selects teams are allowed to play 8 games against other OWHA DS teams, attend 3 DS tournaments and participate in exhibition games as scheduled by the team management.
SFHA will provide 4 practices per month for the Wildcats Selects teams, and the team management will be permitted to add up to a max of 5 ice times per month (either practices or exhibition games). Wildcats Selects teams will not schedule tournaments, games or practices that conflict with the house league schedule.
How much will it cost?
The SFHA fee per Wildcats Selects player will be $275. Wildcats Selects team fee is capped at a maximum of $600 per player, in addition to the SFHA House League registration and team fees you are currently paying.
